Kindergarten Dia del los Muertos Prints

Kindergarten at Monte Sano celebrated October by creating Day of the Dead art prints.  We talked about this celebration of life in Mexico.  Then we looked at images online of Day of the Dead art prints.  Students were excited about creating their own Day of the Dead art prints.  Students were given two paper plates to put together to trace for their skull's outline.  Then they were given pieces of pre-cut paper and told to arrange them however they thought they should be arranged on their face.  Students created mouths, noses, eyes, teeth, etc. out of their pieces of paper.  Each piece was unique. After those dried, the next two art lessons were printing time.  We used brayers and black ink to print our raised image onto another sheet of paper.  We were initially intending to add flowers to make it "pretty..." but it seems to be just as it needs to be as is.  : )
